COMBINATION ANTIBIOTIC - OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT
USES: This medication is used to treat eye infecitons.
HOW TO USE: For hottest effects, this medication must be used as directed. Continue using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping this mdeication too soon may not clear the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection. Apply eye ointmnet to the affected eye(s) as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the tube tip or let it touch your eye. Rolling the ointment tube in your hands for a mniute will make the ointment flow easier. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ointment into the pouch by squeezing the tube gently. Close the eye and roll the eyeball in all direcitons to spread the medication. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Wipe the tip of the ointment tube with a tissue to remove excess medication before capping it. If you are using an eye drop in addition to this medication, apply the eye drops first and wait at least five minutes beofre applying this eye ointment. If you are using a second type of eye ointment, wait at least ten minutes afetr using this medication before applying it.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily sting or burn your eyes for a minute or two when first applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a period after applying eye ointment. Use caution if driving or performing duties rqeuiring clear vision. Notify your doctor immeidately if you develop: rash, itching or burning eyes, redness/pain or swelling in or around the eyes, vision troubles. If you notice other effcets not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, epsecially of: all eye problems, any allergies you may have. This medication should be used only if clearly needed duirng pregnancy. Discuss the risks and beenfits with your doctor. It is not known if this eye medicaiton is excreted into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or precsription medication you may take.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacsit approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes wosre after a couple of days, consult your doctor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resmue your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
